Don't Drink the Water!

Kyleigh's teacher stopped me when I went to pick her up today to share with me a humorous little moment in her day. Kyleigh likes a little boy in her class. She wanted to sit beside him during their story time but the only chair next him was taken by another classmate, who Kyleigh asked to move. He told her no and she got upset. It wasn't a full blown meltdown but as can happen with our Aspie, she was just having problems processing the emotions she was feeling and getting herself to calm down. She told the teacher that she just didn't know what to do to calm down so they offered her a chair and a cup of water. Come to find out yesterday one of the classrooms had flooded from what it sounded like to be some kind of problem with plumbing. As a result the water had to be turned off. So here Kyleigh sits, trying to calm herself down, taking sips of this bottled water when suddenly her principal comes on to the intercom with the following announcement "Attention Teachers. The water has been turned back on however it is currently not potable. Please do not drink the water from the taps or fountains." Now every other child is oblivious to the announcement except my darling little bug who suddenly finds herself in direct violation of what she heard the principal say "Don't drink the water!" So in natural form Kyleigh, freaks out... "OH NO! I'm DRINKING THE WATER!" Cue the water works. Her teachers couldn't help themselves and neither could I when they were telling we about this. I can just imagine them sitting there and trying to be comforting and explain to her that Mrs. Templeton didn't mean her water (I've been there!) It was a big enough event that Kyleigh refused water at home later insisting "But momma, Mrs. Tempelton told me I couldn't drink the water!" I'm sure they'll be amused by that one tomorrow when I drop her off.

"NO NOT BLOOD!"

So after our Q and A session for the previous post Ky comes out of her room after rummaging through her dress up trunk with a vampire cape that used to belong to her daddy and informs me she does know what a vampire is. "It's someone who turn into a bat! And I want to be a vampire now! Can you put this on me Momma?" As I'm putting the cape on her I explain what a vampire is. Bad idea Momma! Her reaction:
"BLOOD! NO NOT BLOOD! EWWWE! I DON'T want to be a MONSTER that drinks BLOOD!" (Alright, Bug. You don't have to be a monster that drinks blood. How about you be a vampire that sucks the juice from apples. Kyleigh the apple vampire?!) OH! YEAH! I like that!
Spreading her cape wings she's off into the dimly light hallway.... apples of the world beware!

PS - I wanted to post a picture of her dressed up in her cape however she switched over to her Wonder Woman costume before I could get the camera. Luckily for us since there seems to be an invasion of ghost in the house she is laying waste to as I type. My little hero!

"Look! It's My Blog!"

A note from Mommabug:
Hey everyone! I've been thinking these past few weeks about adding some things to my personal blog that show a bit more of Ky's personality. Things like her drawings, the pictures she takes (as photography is being coming more and more important and interesting to her), along with some of her interesting little quotes and stories. It occurred to me this morning as I was laughing hysterically with Bug's teachers as they recounted an amusing moment that happened in class this morning that I really need to stop keeping treasures such as this to myself. "That's just blog-able!" I caught myself saying. And as we walked back home I thought to myself "Well, there you go! Start her a blog!" So after the girls had a little nap and snack Ky and I got on my account and started up this blog. I'm not 100% sure she "gets" the concept but she is very excited to have a chance to share herself with all of you. We have lots of ideas and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out of this. Hope you all enjoy it too!
So with out further ado, I'm going to "hand you over" to the belle of the ball. Mrs. Kyleigh in her own words...... [anything in parenthesis is me talking to her or asking her more questions]
